What is survivor art?
Art that speaks about recovery from challenges to mental, emotional, and physical well being.
It is powerful, intimate, and raw. Both medium and subject often separate it from fine art. It is usually created to express an experience in the process of recovery rather than drawing on that experience to inform the art.

Why are only womyn asked to enter artwork to this show?
March is Womyn's Herstory Month and womyn are still discouraged by glass ceilings, lack of funding, and lack of recognition from expressing their point of view.

Why spell Womyn with a Y?
Because we are not derived from men, our expectations and destinations are not the same. Like the old slogan says: So long Adam's rib, hello Womyn's lib.

There are no fees for entry, no insurance for pieces submitted. Limited jury process to protect library from work posing risk to health or premises and to manage scope of show. This is a relatively small public space and we may not be able to accommodate all work submitted. Womyn's art only.Angel Hopkins, 29, wears a pink hat at her Massaponax, Va., home, Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004. Hopkins, who is being treated for breast cancer, has lost her hair from chemotherapy. As a gesture of support, Hokpkin's mother, sister-in-law, and other friends shaved their heads. The women agreed they would stay bald as long as Hopkins does.
